Happy New Year from all of us here

We are now back from the holidays and ready to take your Term 1 enrolments. Click on the "Activities" button for details and ring the tutor listed next to the class or call us on 8371938 for further information or to enrol.

We would like to talk to anyone who has the skills and would be interested in running a Cake Decorating Class or a Travel Club . We are also toying with the idea of a Community Garden and are looking for volunteers who are keen gardeners to get it set up and to run it.

Community Open Day

Come and join us for a fun day for the whole family - entertainment for the kids, cooking demos and see what we do here.

Henderson/Massey Local Board Member and JP Consultation

Tuesdays 11.30am - 1.30pm

Drop in if you wish to discuss matters concerning the above ward with Henderson/Massey Local Board member, Leo Nobilo. Leo is also a Justice of the Peace so if you need to talk to a JP, come along. No appointment needed - just drop in.

Volunteers

From time to time we need to call on the help of volunteers - this is a great way to contribute to the ongoing work of the Sturges West Community House and to meet new people in your community. If you feel this is something you would be interested in doing please call Brenda on 8371938 to discuss further.

Did you know you can hire our facilities for private functions?

Our rate for parties for children 12 years and under is as follows:
Full Meeting Room, Arts and Crafts Room, Lounge and Kitchen for up to 4 hours is

$69 for up to 25 people

(plus $2.60 per extra person)

OR you can hire by the hour – click on the "facilities" button to see our rates

$100 bond payable – no alcohol allowed on the premises.

Note: our Full Meeting Room maximum number is 80 people

Expansion to Community House

Over the years since Sturges West Community House opened useage has increased each year. We are nearing the stage where we need to consider future expansion to the building due to its use.

The Committee has at this stage asked an architect to supply us with some sketches to extend the house and the possible costs.

Our local Community Board member has advised us that the council expenditure for 2010/11 year has been finalised so Council is unable to assist.

We will therefore have to deal with the new Community Board elected under the Super City for money to do any extension.
